The SO Story
“Here you can read all about how Victoria started the company as well as what we do.”
Welcome to the world of SCARLET OPUS
Hi! I’m Victoria Redshaw, let me tell you about my company …
We are a Trend Forecasting company specialising in the Interiors sector – helping you to make more informed decisions, inspire your team, and lead with confidence. Scarlet Opus was a dream of mine from the age of 19. When I started my degree at The University of Huddersfield I already knew I wanted to run my own company; but first I knew I needed experience in the industry. After graduating I was fortunate to gain a design position giving me contact with Buyers from most of the high street stores in the UK, and in addition to creating designs for them, the Buyers began asking my opinion on future seasons: What products and designs would work next season? What colours? What did I think the major style themes would be? Over the next 7 years I honed my forecasting skills and at 30 felt with complete certainty the time was right to start out on my own. That was 2003.
Now I am proud to head a small team of talented, passionate, and creative individuals with the commitment and energy to really make things happen. We love our work and our enthusiasm and dedication shines through everything we do!
Our clients include Product Designers, Interior Designers, Manufacturers, Retailers, and Buyers. With our practical and accurate insight into tomorrow’s design trends, together with expertise in product and surface pattern design, we can help you increase sales revenues and profitability, and give you confidence and reassurance that your creative business decisions are informed decisions.
We also regularly collaborate with the media to provide opinion and insight to editorial features and, of course, each week we write informative and inspiring postings for our blog. The majority of our postings are written by Shelley and I and we continue to:
- Explain how we forecast the trends
- Highlight key emerging influences
- Preview future interior trends
- Discuss the Wants, Needs & Desires of consumers
- Showcase the work of inspiring Designers
- Encourage participation and openness!
So you might be wondering where the company name comes from? Well I knew I wanted to include the word ‘Scarlet’ – the most passionate of colours – our work involves so much colour and we are so passionate about our work (the Red in Redshaw was just a bonus!). ‘Opus’ means a creative work, though often associated with a musical composition it essentially refers to an artistic masterpiece – the greatest work of a creative. The name of our company is a constant reminder to the team and our clients that we are passionate about producing our very best creative work.
It’s what we love to do.
